Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) is a blood clot in the deep veins of the body usually in the legs. About DVT occurs in about 2 million Americans in the United States each year. If a DVT dislodges and travels to the lungs, it can cause a blockage known as aPulmonary Embolism (PE) or lung clot. PE can be immediately fatal and are responsible for more deaths in the United States each year than breast cancer and AIDS combined. Many of these blood clots can be prevented. |
